Long time, no talk!

Hey Hey! Things have been very busy lately, and I haven't had any time to post on this thing... my bad. I've been trying to split up my time evenly between shooting, music and life, but it's been hard to manage! Things have been going well with music lately, which has taken up the majority of my time. I am still shooting as much as possible when I'm not on the road... so I will try and post some of my new work soon.

Here's a poster I put together for our (Azeda Booth's) recent tour of Canada.

Like everyone gets at some point, I've been stuck in a bit of a rut. But, during a quick trip to Montreal (le swoon!) and a new client, I was pushed towards something new. Something I really like! Here's a big thank you to Malcolm Brown (art director, extraordinaire) who I can credit to trying new (with a mix of the old) things.

These aren't the final illustration, but they're bits of the process of me loosening up, and a direction I'm excited about!

Every drawer of drawings has to start somewhere; some beginnings are, uh, stranger than others.

Click the picture above to see the only drawings I did by the age of 4. I think it goes without saying that I must have spent some time in church.

Warning: Some viewers may find this ... creepy. I like to think of it as studies in crucifixes, personal struggle, anatomy, and, best of all, goatees (re: the drawings on cardboard).

Here is a poster I recently did for Mogwai for this year's Sled Island Music Festival. The final will be 16"x22", 3-color silkscreen available for sale (with a ton of other great original posters) at the festival.

Calgarian journalist Chris Koentges wrote a beautiful & inspiring story (warning: it's a tearjerker!) about his mother's recent passing from brain cancer, featured in last weeks Swerve.

Pheww! On a more cheery note, the Compadres/Oscar Lopez illustrations were nominated in the 'Illustration or Illustration Feature' category of the Western Magazine Awards! I'm in good company - other nominees include my fellow classmate Byron Eggenschweiler, and schoolmate Joy Ang!

4th YEAR SHOW PIECE

Here is the piece I submitted for our 4th year Photography class show.

The photo was shot this past summer and was just a matter of great timing. My old neighbour was standing in the street, sweeping, and I grabbed my camera and was able to get off one shot (through my living room window) before he went back inside -- so this is it.

The photo was printed 30" x 40" and was flush mounted on a wood frame and epoxy resin coated.

Here is a fun little mock ad I did for a Teflon Coated Polo. Easy Clean... Non Stick!

I plan on doing another image around the same concept to create a nice double page spread for a portfolio.
